Dy. CM of of Delhi  inaugurates World Class Skill Centre in DPSRU

The orientation programme for M. Pharm., MPH, MHM and Pharm. Management students was organized by Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences & Research University in G K Narayanan Auditorium of DPSRU.

Prof. Harvinder Popli, Dean & Offg. Registrar, DPSRU gave brief about the university and DPSRU Innovation and Incubation Foundation, which is an initiative of Govt. of NCT of Delhi to encourage young students to develop an innovative and enthusiastic approach, who are having great ideas for Pharmacy Industry and lead them to become successful entrepreneurs.

It was followed by address by Prof. D. P. Pathak, Director, DIPSAR. He gave brief about journey of DIPSAR and achievements of the students during this time.

Dr. Geeta Aggarwal, coordinator of the programme discussed about academic system and teaching learning process of the university. She highlighted the opportunities for the students in the campus.

In his address to the newly joined students, Prof. Ramesh K. Goyal, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor said that the vision of the university is to be the ultimate destination for education, training and research in Pharmaceutical Sciences and allied areas and thereby, cater the health needs of the people at large. He said DPSRU came out as the 1st Pharmaceutical university of the country because of initiatives of present Govt., although the Act of the university was passed in 2008.

He highlighted that Govt. has taken initiative to start Incubation centres in the universities and because of this initiative, DPSRU has come out with the 1st Research product. University was able to start WCSC programmes and came out with unique skill course in Sport Sciences. He said that DPSRU has a determination to fill up the gaps of Pharmaceutical industry, which includes dependency on China for API and other Pharmaceutical products.

He said that Students of the university are getting scholarships for research from Govt., getting placements in reputed companies and starting their own start-ups.

He said that Govt. of NCT of Delhi has been constantly supporting DPSRU.

Sh. Sarpreet Singh Gill, Director, DTTE, Govt. of NCT of Delhi, as Guest of Honor of the programme congratulated students, who had secured admission in the First Pharmacy University of the India. He advocated the concept of “Think Globally & Act locally” to the students. Sh. Ajay Dutt, MLA, as special guest congratulated students of the university.

Shri Manish Sisodia, Hon,ble Dy. Chief Minister of Govt. of NCT of Delhi as the Chief guest of the programme congratulated the fresher students. He praised the initiatives taken by Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ramesh K. Goyal, due to which the University is bringing up Uniqueness in numbers and quality. He complimented the University to have brought out the first research product in the Indian market for the benefit of Kidney patients and also those on critical care.

He said that the Govt. is supporting the DPSRU projects and will continue to support. He told that they have many schemes including matching grant, Direct project support and Govt. also wants to expand university in terms of infrastructure. He highlighted that Pharmacy is well connected to hospitals. Govt. will try to connect DPSRU with hospitals.

He said that the University must contribute in building the Nation through innovation and economic developments. He said as the University is associated with health care, it could provide affordable safe and effective treatments, may be in the form of medicines or nutraceuticals. He motivated the students to come out with innovative ideas and research products for the nation.

The staff members of the university were awarded by Sh. Manish Sisodia, Hon,ble Dy. Chief Minister of Govt. of NCT of Delhi for their extraordinary services to the university. The awardees included Dr. Rajiv Tonk as the coordinator for admissions of the university, Dr. Madhu Gupta for her contribution in establishment of World Scale Skill Centre, Mr. Hemant for his contribution in set up of auditorium of the university, Dr. Shilpa Jain for set up of OPD in Physiotherapy, Dr. Geeta Agagrwal for her contribution in the launch of 1st Innovative Research product of the university and conduct of orientation programme. Shri Manish Sisodia, Dy. CM of NCT of Delhi,also inaugurated the World Class Skill Centre of the university. At the end, Dr. Meenakshi Chauhan, coordinator proposed the vote of thanks.
