Seminar on International Patents Filing in Dehradun

The Indian Patent Office,under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry,is organizing one-day seminar today in Dehradun, on filing of International Patents. The seminar is being organized in collaboration with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), ASSOCHAM, Cell for IPR Promotion and Management (CIPAM) of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of Government of India and Uttarakhand Government.

Interested users, stakeholder, applicants, innovators, members of MSME, academic institutions, R&D organizations and other scientific organizations have been invited to participate in the seminar. Assistant Director General and Chief of Staff, WIPO, Geneva, Switzerland, Naresh Nandan Prasad and Controller General of Patent, Design and Trademark,O.P. Gupta, will be present during the daylong seminar.

This is the part of Government of India’s endeavor towards a “Creative India: Innovative India” and alsoto reach out to innovators in Tier-2 cities and to spread awareness among the creators and innovators for protecting Intellectual Property (IP) and innovations, in India and globally, through the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT).

PCT assists applicants in seeking patent protection internationally for their inventions and facilitates public access to a wealth of technical information relating to those inventions.Experts from WIPO & IP offices will present an overview of the PCT system and its advantages for the applicants, patent offices and the general public. These seminars will help Indian users to create their accounts and to access the ePCT system and other patent tools, which allows users to file and manage their international applications online.

Similar seminarshave been scheduled in Lucknow on 24th June 2019, Kolkata on 26th June 2019 and Bhubaneshwar on 28th June 2019.
