Thalassemia is a genetic disease. Health checkups including Complete Blood Count may help in early diagnosis & treatment of the disease. Stay aware to stay protected. Thalassemia is an inherited, genetic blood disorder which is treatable in most cases if detected in early childhood years. Extended family screening is recommended in case of any history of #Thalassemia in the family. If both partners are Thalassemia minor, contact your gynecologist before 12 weeks of pregnancy to curb the chances of passing on the defect to the child.

Under Blood Cell-NHM, States are supported to treat the Thalassemics. Integrated day care centres for Hemoglobinopathies & Hemophilia are established to cater the needs of the patients. BMT is also being provided to BPL patients with the help of @CoalIndiaHQ.
