Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) organised Felicitation Ceremony and Presentation of Lifetime Achievement Award to Padmashri Karsanbhai Patel, Founder & Chiarman of Nirma Group on the occasion of completion of 70 years (1949-2019) of the chamber. Shri Sanjay Lalbhai, Chairman & MD of Arvind Ltd. was the Chief Guest in the event. Shri Pankaj Patel, Chairman of Zydus Group & Sudhir Mehta, Chairman of Torrent Group were the Guests of Honour. Dr. Jaimin Vasa, Chairman of Vasa Group, BoA member of Accuprec Research Labs and President of GCCI welcomed all the dignitaries. About the Awardee
Dr Karsanbhai K. Patel, Chairman, Nirma Limited and founder President of Nirma Education & Research Foundation and Nirma University was felicitated by GCCI. Dr Karsanbhai K. Patel has been conferred with ‘Padma Shri’ Award in the year 2010. He is also the recipient of the ‘Udyog Ratna’ Award-1990, ‘Gujarat Businessman’ Award-1998, Ernst & Young ‘Lifetime Achievement’ Award-2006, ‘Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Vishwa Pratibha Award- 2009’, The Baroda Sun ‘Lifetime Achievement’ Award- 2009 and ‘Chemtech Award of Hall of Fame’.
Dr Patel is renowned for his contribution to industrial development in the country. Dr Patel was awarded Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters by Florida Atlantic University, USA for Business and Marketing acumen and philanthropy in the year 2001. He was also awarded Honorary D. Lit by Devi Ahilya Vishwavidhyalaya, Indore in 2007.
A well-known entrepreneur and philanthropist that he is; Karsan bhai started Nirma as a one-man operation and has brought to a stage where today Nirma has 18000+ employees and revenues worth more than Rs.7,000 Cr. Nirma is a group of companies Headquartered in Ahmedabad, Gujarat and deals in manufacturing of products that range from cosmetics, soaps, detergents, salt, soda ash, LAB (Linear Alkyl Benzene) to Injectables. Marketing Mantra’ of Nirma is, “Low Cost, High Quality”.
Meanwhile, Dr. Jaimin Vasa, President, GCCI and other office bearers of GCCI met the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Vijaybhai Rupani. A fruitful discussion was held between the Hon'ble CM and the GCCI office-bearers led by Dr Jaimin Vasa. GCCI committee includes Shri Durgesh Buch, Sr. Vice President, Shri Hemant N. They Discussed various aspects about industrial development in the state.
