‘Enterprising Giants’, an event by TiE Ahmedabad, was organised on March 14, 2019 at Novotel. It invited home-grown successful entrepreneurs to share experiences on building value, staying ahead, and surviving tough times. Arjun Handa, Vice Chairman & MD of Claris, was one of the two speakers at the event, along with Gokul Jaykrishna (Joint Managing Director & CEO - Asahi Songwon Colors Limited), and it was moderated by Chirag Patel (Founder & CEO - Net4Nuts).
Arjun Handa shared how focus on generating capital, along with focus on quality of management, helps in building value. For staying ahead in competition, he stated that ‘execution’ is more important than ‘innovation’, and it requires focus on product quality and people quality, with flexibility & speed. On how to survive tough times, he mentioned that besides ‘transparency’, ‘boldness’ is very important in telling the truth and taking decisions - this is what he has done at Claris. Later, during open Q&A session, he shared the mantra of hiring right people, i.e., to watch out for hunger and flexibility at first place, rather than knowledge and capabilities.
