Innovation is the power which can bring prosperity: Dr. Ketan Patel

"Innovation is the power which can bring prosperity progress." This was stated by Dr Ketan Patel, Chairman & Managing Director of troikaa pharmaceuticals, who is recently appointed as Chairman of BoG at NIPER-Ahmedabad.

Dr Patel was speaking at GTU Multidisciplinary international conference. He spoke about how to innovate? He expressed the opinion that Gujarat has tremendous opportunities field of pharmaceuticals. We have good resources and laboratories in India. The power of knowledge is in application. If you start understand to apply ideas, innovation will automatically come up. Ideate and applied the idea for innovation is the key. Nowadays companies are innovating but how many commercialized? The picture is dismal.

"After Second World War Japan started to copy products and selling. But they found that mere copy of products cannot work. Then they started innovation and Japan could become superpower. Countries which innovate can dominate. Idea implementation and execution is the most important. First of all please find out what is desirable by customers. After that think about the technology. Then calculate how viable it is", Dr. Patel said. He gave example of electric car in this regard.

He also spoke about out of box thinking and said that "Open Minded Attitude is must for development. Innovation gives you leadership. IPhone is selling their products more than 30 to 40% higher rates than other companies that iPhone is the leader. He said that genome willl revamp the picture of Healthcare sector. Mentioning the change we can make in DNA or RNA can affect, he said that if you remove root cause which causes pests, then you will not require pesticides." Example office company and told about how he started the company 33 years ago and within three decades how he won a case against multinational company.

Prof.(Dr)Navin Sheth, vice chancellor of GTU and BoA member of Accuprec Research Labs said that "there are lots of opportunities in India, but there are many challenges also. We are very lagging behind in the field of patent filing. Now time has come to think about where we are lacking. China is made in herbal sector and some companies from China are using same raw material in manufacturing of herbal products which Indian companies are using. Pharmacy Council of India is now revamping syllabus to include new and emerging Technologies like artificial intelligence etc. to boost up patent filing and innovation."

Prof. Saranjit Singh spoke about why quality medicines are necessary for patient care. Prof. Abdel Wahab Omri from Laurentian University, Canada presented the interesting insight about latest techniques related to bacteria and gave detail about how the research will be helpful in the treatment of various diseases.

Total 33 research papers were presented in the conference. Dr.C.N. Patel, dean of pharmacy in GTU and Board of Governance member of GTU, Dr. Mahesh Chhabria, principle of L.M. College of Pharmacy, Dr Vimal Kumar and Dr. Sunita Goswami role of reviewer for this research papers, Dr. Rajesh Parikh, Director at Gujarat Technological University (GTU) said. Gujarat Council of Science and Technology as well as department of Science and Technology give financial support for this multidisciplinary conference. Incharge Registrar of GTU Dr. J.C. Lilani welcomed all. Students and faculty members as well as Industry representatives including Dr. Pravin Jogani, Deputy General Manager of Zydus group were also present.
