DPSRU Celebrated National Youth Day (NYD) by Blood Donation Campaign


The NSS unit of Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University organized a blood donation camp in collaboration with AIIMS blood bank-New Delhi on 31st January 2019. The event was planned and executed well by Dr. J. Swaminathan (University NSS Coordinator), Dr. Siddhartha Sen (NSS Program officer) and Rajiv Tonk (NSS Program Officer) with support and enlightenment of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Ramesh K. Goyal, Registrar Prof. Raman Dang, Offg. Dean Prof. Harvinder Popli DPSRU and all NSS Volunteers of DPSRU & DIPSAR.

The event began at 10.30 a.m. with a short inaugural function where in and his five member team was given a floral welcome to Chief Guest Prof Dr. Shridhar Dwidehi, Chairman, Board of Governor, DPSRU & Prof S.K Gupta, Member BOG, DPSRU followed by a nukkad natak by dramatic society of DIPSAR-DPSRU ‘Fitoor’ on theme of sexual abuse, the natak was titled as ‘Siskiyaan’. The chief guest and Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Ramesh K. Goyal, expressed his gratitude to the NSS unit of the college for its continuous endeavor in this regard. They also stressed on the growing need of blood in the state and commended the young volunteers for their noble act.

The Camp was inaugurated by Dr. Shridhar Dwidehi, Chairman BOG, & NSS Programme Officer & Hon’ble Vice Chancellor Prof. Ramesh K. Goyal, Registrar Prof. Raman Dang, Offg.Dean Prof. Harvinder Popli and all NSS Volunteers DPSRU by Donating Blood. The first blood donation was made by Dr. Siddhartha Sen & Dr Rajiv Kumar Tonk.145 volunteers came forward to donate blood during the camp which included teaching & non-teaching staff, students & non-student donors. At the end 79 units of Blood was collected. The NSS Volunteers were given refreshment like jalebi, banana, Biscuits and juice to blood donors after donating the blood in order to re-energize themselves.

The blood donation drive was organized in collaboration with AIIMS Blood bank therefore all the donors received with a blood donation certificate, Blood Donor card by AIIMS and T-Shirts for Blood donors. The AIIMS medical team was provided with lunch by NSS DPSRU Team and the camp concluded at around 4.30 p.m. The programmes were planned to generate awareness among the students, academia, general public etc. about the importance of Blood Donation. DPSRU NSS team is honoured and feels privileged to make Blood Donation an annual event of celebration.
