Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijaybhai Rupani today expressed determination to reduce country’s crude-oil bill by generating cheaper bio-diesel from used cooking oil. He was speaking at an inaugural function of the ‘Swasth Bharat Mela’ (Healthy India Fair) organized in Ahmedabad this evening.
In this reference, Mr. Rupani further stated that the RUCO (Reused of Cooking Oil Software Biodiesel Association of India) is collecting the used cooking oil from the traders to generate biodiesel from it. At the initial stage, the used cooking oil will be collected by a mobile van.
Urging the people under the ‘Eat Right India’ campaign to develop a habit to eat good, well-balanced, healthy food for healthy life, the Chief Minister pointed out that traditionally Gujaratis are habitual to eat oily foods, however, due to today’s stressful and fast lifestyle it is also inviting diseases like diabetics, liver, and others.
He also urged the people to join Prime Minister Mr. Narendrabhai Modi’s mission to make India a global guru as healthy, clean and environment friendly nation to mark its 75 years of independence in 2022.
On the occasion, RUCO and FDCA had signed a MoU in the presence of Mr. Rupani. The Chief Minister had also launched an application of RUCO, which on very first day had attracted requests to collect 47,146 liters of used cooking oil from the oil traders.
Others who spoke on the occasion included minister of state for health Mr. Kishorebhai Kanani, Additional Chief Secretary (Health Department) Mr. Poonamchand Parmar, CEO, FSSAI, Government of India, Mr. Pavan Kumar, and city mayor Mrs. Bijalben Patel, and others. The occasion was graced by Member of Parliament Dr. Kiritbhai Solanki, MLAs from Ahmedabad – Mr. Sureshbhai Patel, Mr. Rakeshbhai Shah, Mr. Pradipbhai Parmar, Mr. Bhupendrabhai Patel, and Mr. Hashmukhbhai Patel, Municipal Commissioner Mr. Vijaybhai Nehra, Ahmedabad District Collector Dr. Vikrant Pande, and others.
