IP AWAKE: Awareness Seminar on Intellectual Property Rights was held on 27th September 2018 at R K University, Rajkot. Dr Manish Rachchh, Chief Executive Officer & Director (R&D), Accuprec Research Labs Pvt. Ltd spoke about Research to Revenue topic. Anil K Pandey Deputy Director & Head CII-MoMSME Intellectual Property Facilitation Centre as well as BoA member of Accuprec said that Indian residents are reported to be losing millions in revenues, due to lack of awareness about IPRs (intellectual property rights). About 51,000 IP applications are filed in India annually and about 80 per cent of these are filed by multinational corporations as a foreign applicant and leave a small per cent filed by Indian Industries, particularly MSMEs, Startups & Technoprenuers. However, MSMEs, Startups & Technoprenuers play a very important role in the economic growth of our country.
Key Note Address was presented by Suhas Kulkarni, Assistant Controller of Patents and Designs, Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India. As you may aware that about 80 per cent of China's patent applications are filed by MSMEs, Startups & Technoprenuers. This is the reason for China's global competitive advantage. It is very important in today knowledge-driven economy that MSMEs, Startups & Technoprenuers should know the value of fruits of intellectual property they create.
Technical Plenary session focussed on the legal and economic impact of protection of Intangible assets under various provisions of Intellectual Property Rights. An overview of Intellectual Property Rights, Amendment in IP laws, important of various IP searching & landscaping tools, efforts by the Government & Industry, Policies & Incentives, to nurture IP driven eco-system were discussed.
