Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi inaugurated various developmental projects worth Rs. 500 crores in Junagadh district. These included the Government Civil Hospital, a milk processing plant at Khokharada and 13 projects of Junagadh Municipal Corporation.
The PM inaugurated these projects digitally. The projects include the dedication of work related to the beautification of Narsinh Mehta Sarovar at the cost of Rs. 60 crores, work related to building the Shamaldas Gandhi town hall at the cost of Rs. 68 crores, dedication of a new building of Fisheries College At The Cost Of Rs. 1460 lakhs at Veraval and a milk processing plant worth Rs. 60 crores for the Junagadh District Co-operative Milk Producers Union Limited. Some of the projects have been dedicated entirely whereas the foundation stones of others are laid by the PM.
Speaking on the occasion, the PM announced that the Ayushman Bharat Yojana will be launched on 25th September, 2018, the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadyay. As many as 150 primary health centers will be upgraded to wellness centers. The Ayushman Bharat scheme will change the face of India covering 10 crore middle class families and catering to as many as 50 crore people altogether. The Government of India will bear medical costs up to a sum of Rs. 5 lakhs. A medical college and a civil hospital will be constructed for every 3 Lok Sabha regions and the same will be made for every region in the days to come, he added.
The Ayushman Bharat will be an effective scheme to save as many as 3 lakh infants who die in the early days of their birth as per the report of the World Health Organization. The Prime Minister said that the Government's emphasis on cleanliness is being universally appreciated. The emphasis on cleanliness is important because a Clean India ensures people do not suffer from diseases, he added. He also said that the Ayushman Bharat will transform the health sector and ensure that the poor get top class healthcare at affordable prices.
The progressive and visionary PM also gave insights on the goal oriented schemes put into implementation by the Central Government such as the Pradhan Mantri Sinchai Yojana and appreciated the efforts of the state government for launching the Suryashakti Kisan Yojana.
The Prime Minister said that medical colleges and hospitals are coming up across Gujarat. He said that these are not only helping patients, but also those who want to study medicine. He mentioned the Jan Aushadhi Yojana, under which Jan Aushadhi stores are being opened, which is reducing the prices of medicines. It is important that the poor and the middle class get access to affordable medicines, he added.
The Prime Minister said that the health sector requires good doctors, and paramedical staff. We also want medical instruments to be made in India, he added, saying that the sector must also keep pace with the technological advancements globally.
Gujarat Chief Minister Mr. Vijay Rupani said that the construction of a hospital at Junagadh will enable the provision of top class healthcare facilities in the district. He lauded the efforts of the PM in providing support to the state for ensuring a better healthcare and assured that the state administration will take it ahead to meet the expected results. He also said that there were 6 medical colleges in the state during PM Modi’s term as the CM. The state now has 9 medical colleges, due to the support of the PM, which will ensure top quality of education to the students so that they do not have to go out.
Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Nitin Patel said that the Civil Hospital inaugurated by the PM is one the leading examples of the vision and mission of Mr. Modi towards creating a New India. Union Ministers Mr. Parshottam Rupala and Mr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Ministers of State Government namely Mr. R.C Faldu, Mr. Jayeshbhai Radadiya, Mr. Saurabh Patel, Mayor Mrs. Aadhyashkati, DDO Mr. Saurabh Parghi and various other officials and dignitaries and a large number of students were present on the occasion.
Addressing a public meeting on the occasion, he said that there are nine initiatives, worth over Rs 500 crore, which are either being dedicated today, or their foundation stones are being laid. He said that there is a new energy and vibrancy in India's development journey. He said that in Gujarat, there is a constant effort to ensure that adequate water reaches every part of the state. We are also working towards water conservation, he added.
