Accuprec BoA member Dr. Jaimin Vasa takes over as GCCI President

After the annual general meeting of Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industries (GCCI), Dr Jaimin Vasa, a city-based industrialist, took over as president of the industry body in an elaborate ceremony at the GCCI premises here on Saturday. Vasa, who was senior vice president of GCCI for the year 2017-18, replaced Shailesh Patwari as president. Minister of state for home Pradipsinh Jadeja and JK Dash, regional director, Reserve Bank of India (RBI), Shri Padmin Buch, Chairman BoA of Accuprec as well as Dr. RIna Gokani, Director & Chief Scientific Officer and Shri Mayur Kandoriya, Director & Chief Marketing Officer and leading industrialists were present.

Dash said the role of GCCI in strengthening Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) is of paramount importance. “However, the chamber should also focus on formalization of businesses in the state as it will benefit the economy. GCCI should also focus on closing the awareness gap among MSMEs about several rules and regulations and government schemes,” he said.

Jadeja hailed the chamber for having consistently represented industry issues before the government. “The state government will always support the industry body in its initiatives and try to promptly address the industry issues. Development is our ultimate goal, after all. It is the industry and businesses that propel the growth of the state and make Gujarat known for its entrepreneurial spirit.”

Talking about the need for improvement in the state’s legal infrastructure, Jadeja said, “We have started industrial and commercial courts in Gujarat. We are making an effort to create a different and appropriate environment in the commercial court, suitable for businesses. Reduction in pending cases is a priority for the state government and we will deliver doorstep justice by building necessary infrastructure in the state.” Vasa said, “Encouraging and supporting the younger generation as well as women-entrepreneurs, will be one of my priorities. We will play an active role in Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2019, We’ve been invited to organize MSME conclave. We will make our best efforts to create opportunities for trade and industries by organizing sector-specific seminars from time to time, and addressing their issues promptly, especially those of MSMEs and small traders.”
