Gujarat Technological University (GTU) will organise National Phama & Healthcare Hackathon next year. This was announced by Prof.(Dr) Navin Sheth, Vice Chancellor of GTU and BoA member of Accuprec Research Labs in inauguration ceremony of 7th Centralized Placement Fair for Pharmacy for students of Final Year D.Pharm / B.Pharm / M.Pharm at GTU Chandkheda Campus. Total 2285 students attended the interviews on Day 1 out of which 719 students were shortlisted by 35 companies.Many Leading Representatives of industries including Shri Padmin Buch, well-known IPR expert and BoA Chairman of Accuprec Research Labs were present in inauguration of the Placement Fair. Second day of the placement fair was having presence of more 37 companies. Dr Manish Rachchh, Director (R & D) & CEO of Accuprec was the Guest of Honour.
On behalf of Accuprec Research Labs Pvt. Ltd., Dr. Rina Gokani, Director & CSO, Shri Mayur Kandoriya, Director & CMO, Sanjay Trivedi, Head of Corporate Communications and HR, Ms. Anita Patel, Asst. Manager and Research Associates - Sagar Bhut & Megha Kyada participated in the event to choose candidates.
In inauguration ceremony, Dr. Jaimin Vasa, Senior Vice President of Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industries (GCCI) as well as BoA member of Accuprec Research Labs gave the in-depth analysis of Pharma sector in his key note speech. He said that Indian Pharma market size is expected to grow to US $ 100 bn by the year 2025, driven by increasing consumer spending, repid urbanization and raising healthcare insurance among others. Pharma sector’s revenues are expected to grow by 9 per cent year-on-year through fiscal 2020. Indian Pharma companies are capitalizing on export opportunities in regulated and semi-regulated markets. India’s pharma exports stood at US $ 16.8 billion in 2016-17 and are expected to grow 30 per cent over the next three years to reach US $ 20 billion by 2020, according to the Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (PHARMEXCIL). During April-2017 and January-2018 Pharma export reached Rs. 696.84 billion. Indian drugs are exported to more than 250 countries in the world. India is the world’s largest provider of generic medicines. Growth of pharma sector is due to Low cost of production and R & D.
Now some new avenues have been available for Pharma students like Drug R & D, Consultancy, Drug Marketing, 24 hour pharmacy, mobile pharmacy, Vitamin Shop, Medical Writer, App Developer, Aerobics centres and Health fitness centre, Alternative medicines, First Aid kits selling, Health Seminars, Senior Care Service, Natural Home remedy, Online pharmacy, Cosmetics line etc. Addressing the students he said that this is the most significant phase of your academic journey. It is the time when you will gain your own recognition by showcasing your skills and competencies to the outside world. It is time when you would be asked to exhibit what all have learnt throughout your academic voyage and what all you would be acquiring in future, Dr. Vasa added

Patel, Dean of Pharmacy & BOG member of GTU said that this year top companies coming for campus placement will include Zydus Cadila Healthcare, Amneal Pharmaceutical Ltd , Apollo Hospitals, Apollo Pharmacy , Biocon Ltd. , Cadila Health Care , Emcure Pharmaceuticals Limited, Finecure Pharmaceutical Ltd, GVK EMRI 108 Emergency Services, IPCA Laboratories, Liva Pharmaceuticals Ltd, (Zydus Cadila Group), Ratnamani Healthcare Pvt. Ltd, Rusan Pharma Ltd, Troikaa Pharmaceuticals Ltd, Unitech Pharmaceutical, Veeda Clinical Research Pvt. Ltd, Accuprec Research Labs Pvt Ltd, Aculife Healthcare Private Limited etc. About 70 B. Pharm and 58 M. Pharm colleges are affiliated with the GTU. Nearly 1,750 B. Pharm, 460 M.Pharm and 320 D.Pharm students are expected to PASS OUT in the month of May-June 2018. Out of which 800 B. Pharm, 300 D. Pharm and 400 M. Pharm students (from 16 different Specializations) are expected to participate in this Centralized Placement Event planned by GTU. These students are ready to join industry on immediate basis, as their exams will finish just before the placement fair dates.
Dr. C.J. Shishu, Former Principal of L.M. College of Pharmacy and Bhagyesh Soneji, an entrepreneur also expressed their opinions about the improvement of future life through focusing on career. Dr. Mahesh Chhabria, Principal of L.M. College of Pharmacy presented the vote of thanks. Amit Patel was the co-ordinator of the placement fair.
