The event:
Convention and International Conference was started with registration and breakfast between 8.30 am to 10.00 am on 20thof January, 2018.
Inaugural function was started at 10.00 am. in Ganpat University Auditorium hall, New MBA building. In this inaugural function Dr. C. K. Kokate (Vice-President, AIU, New Delhi), Dr. Mahendra Sharma (Director General, Ganpat University), Dr. V. K. Dixit (National Advisor, Society of Pharmacognosry), Dr. N. R. Sheth (Vice Chancellor, GTU and President, Society of Pharmacognosy), Dr. H. G. Koshia (Commissioner, FDCA, Gujarat State), Dr.Shailendra Saraf (Vice-President, PCI, New Delhi), Shree Anandbhai Patel (Member, BOG, Ganpat University), Dr.Umesh Patil (General Secretary, Society of Pharmacognosy) and Dr.Amit Patel (Registrar, Ganpat University) were remain present.
Dr.R. K. Patel, Organizing Secretary and Chairman, LOC, welcomed and introduced the guest and explained the overview of the event.
In this inaugural program Three prestigious Felicitation and award was given by Society of Pharmacognosy. Dr. V. K. Dixit, National Advisor and Immediate Past President of Society of Pharmcognosy was felicitated by awarding “Lifetime Achievement Award-2018, Dr.Shailendra Saraf, Vice President of Pharmacy Council of India was felicitated by awarding “Merit of Excellence Award-2018” and Dr. Sunil Jalalpure of KLE University was felicitated by awarding “ISP Eminence Award-2018” for their remarkable contribution in the field of Pharmacognosy and Pharmacy Profession.
Dr. C. K. Kokate delivered a Keynote Address which was tribute to Late Prof. Dr. G. C. Bhavsar, Eminent Pharmacognosist and first principle of the SKPCPER.
First scientific session was handled by Dr.V. K. Joshi (Chairman, Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia Committee) on “Perspective and Prospect in Integrating Ayurveda and Herbal Drugs: Challenges and Opportunities”. This session was chaired by Dr.Maltiben Chauhan, Dr. Alok Mukharjee and Dr.Milind Umekar.
After lunch session, second scientific session was deliverd by Dr.T. D. C. M. K. Wijayasiriwardena, Principal Research Scientist, Industrial Technology Institute, Colombo, Sri Lanka on “Identification of Adulteration in Herbal Raw Materials”. This session was chaired by Dr. N. R. Sheth, Dr. S. H. Ansari and Dr. K. Pundrikakshudu.
Third scientific session was delivered by Dr.Mrs.NeerajTandon, Deputy Director General, ICMR, New Delhi on “Phytopharmaceuticals: A New Drug Class Regulated in India”. This session was chaired by Dr. S. H. Mishra, Dr. Sanjay K. Jain and Dr.Abhay Singhai.
After third scientific session total 200 posters (155 Research Papers and 45 Review Papers) were presented by participants. These posters were evaluated by total 16 well experienced judges.
Executive Committee Meeting of Society of Pharmacognosy was organized parallel to the poster session.
Gala dinner was offerd for all the delegates and guests after this poster session.
Cultural program was organized at night after Gala Dinner. Students of the host institute and team of professional artists have performed different cultural programs in this musical night.
During the second day (21-1-2018), after morning refreshment, Fourth scientific session was delivered by Dr.SharadSrivastava, Principal Scientist, NBRI, Lucknow on “Industrial Chemotaxonomy-An Approach Towards Sustainable Source of Quality Raw Material to AYUSH Industries”. This session was chaired by Dr.SatishSardana, Dr. Sunil Jalalpure and Dr. Richa Dayaramani.
Fifth scientific session was delivered by Dr.Akshay Charegaonkar, Director, Anchrom India Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai on “HPTLC for Analysis of Botanicals”. This session was chaired by Dr. Umesh Patil, Dr. N. M. Patel and Dr. Pramod Salve
Sixth scientific session was delivered by Dr.Shriram Sheshgir Savrikar, R. A. Podar Medical College (Ayu), Worli, Mumbai on “Scope of Ayurvedic Drugs in Next Generation Therapeutics and Supplements”. This session was chaired by Dr. Mohanlal Kori, Dr.Mamata Shah and Dr.Vimal Kumar.
Seventh and Eighth scientific sessions was jointly delivered by two international speakers; Dr.Nokolaos Kostopoulos, Holistic Health Centre, Athens, Greece and Vaidya Asvin Barot, Ayurvedic Physician & Clinical Specialist, London, UK on “Management of Pain Through Thermal Cautery (Agnikarma)”. This session was chaired by Dr.Zulfikar Ali Bhat, Dr.SanjeevAcharya and Dr.KumudUpadhyay.
Closing ceremony of the event was organized on afternoon. In this program first, second and third prize award in research section and first and second prize award in review section was awarded. In research section 1stprize was awarded to ShaikhRaisa (K.M.Kundnani College of Pharmacy); 2nd Prize was awarded to Nirali Desai (Division of Biological and Life Sciences, Ahmedabad University); 3rd Prize was awarded jointly to Ravi Thakar (Shree S.K.Patel College of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Ganpat University) and Maulik Patel (Dept. Botany, Gujarat Universtiy). In review section 1st prize was awarded toRupesh Mishra (Shree S.K.Patel College of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Ganpat University) and 2ndPrize was awarded to DishaPrajapati (Parul Institute of Pharmacy & Research, Parul University).
Event was ended with the vote of thanks by the organizers.
