Sixth Centralized Pharmacy Placement Fair of Gujarat Technological University (GTU) attracted 530 students on day 1. Total 30 Pharma companies participated in the Campus placement. GTU expects 30 more companies to take part in the job fair. Thus around 60 companies are bringing 820 jobs whereas 800 students from 70 pharmacy colleges are available. Team of Accuprec Labs conducted personal interviews of more than 70 students. Among those students aroud 17 students were invited for the second round of their selection process.
Mr. Viranchi Shah, Chairman of Indian Drug Manufacturers Association addressed students in the event and said that GTU has provided you an opportunity to directly interact with industries. You can get knowledge anywhere, but any institution that provides right solution of your problem is the right university. Such placement fairs shows expectations of industries to academia. In fact, industry wants soft skills in students vis-à-vis good marks. So be practical.
Dr. Jaimin Vasa of GCCI told the gathering that looking at the fast pace of growth of pharma sector, we can hope that employment opportunities will increase many fold in pharmacy industry in coming years. India is 6th largest pharma manufacturer country. India is exporting pharma products in 200 countries. India will be on 3rdposition in terms of manufacturing of generic medicines. In near future there will be more demand in R & D, Regulatory, Quality, IPR like jobs in pharmacy sector. Especially demand will increase for MBA students having pharma degree. The job will be challenging, but there will be high salary and growth opportunities also.

In inaugural session, Pharma academic experts Dr.C.J.Shishoo, Ex- Director of B.V. Patel Pharmaceutical Education and Research Development (PERD) Centre and Dr. M.C. Gohel from L.M. College of Pharmacy, Ahmedabad and Dr. Bipin J. Bhatt, Registrar of GTU as well as IPR expert Padmin Buch presented their point of views. Mr. Buch said that if you think good and do good of your company, that will become in interest of you also. Please try to give more than expectations of company, which selects you for job. Always try to learn new skills. This is the age of multi-tasking. Although Prof. (Dr) Navin Sheth, Vice Chancellor of GTU was out of city, he gave message to the gathering that placement scenario has been changed since last 4 years due to efforts from GTU. Now more and more students are thinking to take admission in pharmacy courses. Industries are also supporting to GTU in this cause.
Dr. Manish Rachchh, Director (R & D) and CEO of Accupre Labs told the gathering what situation was there in pharma industry before the year 2014 and what the current situation is in the sector.
